Description

The Shimano Ultegra Spod XTD is a big pit reel built specifically for spodding and marker float work in carp fishing. It is based on the Ultegra XTD 14000 carp reel and shares much of its design, but has been adjusted to suit spodding. Compared with the standard Ultegra XTD, it uses a shallow spool, since spodding needs less line capacity. The gear ratio is 5.2:1 rather than 4.3:1, giving more retrieving speed, and it picks up 124 cm of line per turn of the handle instead of 103 cm. It has three line clips rather than one, and an egg-type handle knob instead of a T-type for more grip.
