The ESP Onyx 12ft 4.5lb Spod and Marker Rod was tested over a two year period by runs water specialist and BCAC champion Kev Hewitt, who stated it is the best spod rod he has ever used. The high modulus blank has a progressive action with plenty of long range power. Maximum compression and distance are best achieved with spods of 5 to 7oz, and heavier loads can be delivered easily at shorter range. It also works well as a marker or feature finding rod combined with braid, where the responsive tip feeds information back to the hand.
