The Anyfish Anywhere GBFS Pro MK2 is a 14ft two-piece fixed spool surfcasting rod, designed as a standalone all-rounder that does what the TMP does but for fixed spool reels. As braid use has grown alongside mono, how the rod reacts to it has become far more important, since casting timings and rod compression feel completely different with braid, and the MK2 design reflects that. Fixed spool angling has moved on considerably in five years. Both models now use Alconite rings, as Fuji have changed their Alconites from BMNAG's to BCMNAG's. The low stand-off frames are retained, having worked superbly on the GBFS, primarily because the latest fixed spool reel designs produce smaller coils. The butt diameter and sliding Fuji reel seat remain at 24mm, as that simply feels right. The rod now includes a reducer as standard, so it is no longer an additional purchase. It also comes with a new updated rod bag, made far more durable than the MK1, and now featuring a reducer pocket. Anyfish Anywhere have chosen to produce this new series one rod at a time, allowing them to put all their efforts into producing the perfect tool for the job. UK sea angling with a fixed spool reel has been revolutionised over the past five years by the massive influx of European tackle, with three-piece Continental style rods for dedicated fixed spool use becoming increasingly popular. Anyfish Anywhere have therefore designed a rod that can be used around the whole of the UK rather than just a few spots on the south coast: rock, kelp, cliffs, piers and beaches, winter to summer, the new 14ft GBFS Pro can handle the lot, just like their other red label rods, but this time specifically for the fixed spool angler. The differences are huge: the way you hold and load the rod when casting, the feel of the rod, the way it is held when reeling in, and the pressures on the wrists and arms due to its balance have all been taken into account. Anyfish Anywhere addressed all these points when designing and making this high end fixed spool rod from scratch; it is not a 13ft 7in Match PRO rung for fixed spool.
