Description

The Sakura Stingray Egi 3504 FD is a spinning reel built specifically for eging, the technique of targeting squid and cuttlefish with jigs. Where a standard spinning reel is designed around casting and retrieving lures, the Stingray Egi is tuned for the constant jigging action and sudden, powerful bursts a hooked cephalopod produces. The 3504 sits as the all-rounder of the range, pairing a larger spool and a stronger 5kg drag than the smaller 2500 size, which suits anglers chasing bigger squid or fishing heavier jigs in deeper water. The reel arrives ready to fish, pre-spooled with 100 metres of high-visibility pink 0.10mm Dyneema braid. That 4-strand line was chosen for its thin diameter and high sensitivity, so you can feel even the most tentative touch from a squid's tentacles. - Model: Stingray Egi 3504 FD - Size: 3000 / 3500 Class - Bearings: 3 Ball Bearings + 1 Infinite Anti-Reverse (Stainless Steel) - Gear Ratio: 5.2:1 - Line Retrieve: 75cm per handle turn - Max Drag: 5kg (Progressive Front Drag) - Weight: 295g (including pre-loaded braid) - Braid Included: 100m of Pink 4-Strand 100% Dyneema (0.10mm / PE 0.6) - Construction: Composite Frame and Rotor / Openwork Aluminum Spool - Handle: CNC Aluminum with Ergogrip Rubber I-Type Knob Shore-based eging for squid and cuttlefish is the core use. The 3504 size pairs well with 8ft to 8ft 6in eging rods, and the 75cm retrieval rate lets you pick up slack line quickly after aggressive rod twitches, keeping you in constant contact with the jig. For boat jigging over deeper water or in stronger currents, the 5kg drag and larger spool capacity give you an advantage against bigger squid. The pink braid is highly visible above the water, which helps you track the angle of your line. Although it is designed for eging, the reel's components and infinite anti-reverse make it a capable light lure reel for perch or schoolie bass. Cephalopods are most active at night, and the high-contrast pink braid is easier to see under a headlamp or pier light, helping you detect bites visually before you feel them through the rod. The front drag on this reel is notably smooth for its price point, which matters in squid fishing — a jerky drag can tear hooks out of soft tentacles. Setting the drag lighter than you might expect lets the infinite anti-reverse handle the hookset while the progressive drag does the rest.
