Description

The Westin W2 Powerstick 8'3" MHH is a saltwater spinning rod built for anglers who move between boat and shore and want one rod that covers casting and vertical work. Its 10–50g casting weight lets it punch a 40g metal jig out to distance or work a soft lure vertically, making it a versatile option for coastal spinning and light jigging. The blank is a blend of 80% 30T and 20% 24T high-performance carbon, giving a light feel that limits fatigue over long sessions along with a fast, aggressive recovery. The 24/30 Tonne construction provides constant feedback and reserves of power for controlling hard-fighting fish such as bluefish or barracuda around structure. - Length: 8'3" (250cm) - Casting Weight: 10–50g - Sections: 2-piece (equal length) - Blank Material: 24/30 Tonne High Performance Carbon - Reel Seat: Seaguide XVS (High Sensitivity) - Guides: Seaguide TUXQLSG Gunsmoke (Tangle-free) - Handle: Premium Grade EVA - Action: Medium-Heavy-Heavy (MHH) / Fast and Technical The 8'3" length is a useful middle ground for shore-based lure fishing: enough leverage to clear shoreline obstructions, yet short enough to stay accurate when casting 20g–40g hardbaits or jigs. The 50g maximum rating suits light vertical jigging or working soft lures over inshore reefs and sandbanks from a boat or kayak. For surface plugging for pelagics such as bonitos or jacks, the fast-action tip makes it easy to walk the dog with surface lures, while the MHH backbone lets you set the hook firmly even at distance. MHH stands for Medium-Heavy-Heavy: a sensitive, medium-style tip for lure action combined with a reinforced heavy mid and butt section. It is intended for anglers using mid-sized lures but targeting fish that pull hard. The Seaguide XVS reel seat is designed to be more ergonomic and to allow more blank contact with your hand, so you feel the vibrations of the lure and the subtle pluck of a predator more clearly than with a bulkier standard seat. The rod also works well for bass fishing, particularly for throwing larger surface lures or heavy soft plastics in rougher weather and high-flow estuaries. Because the rod is designed for both vertical and casting techniques, it can be used to adapt within a session: if surface action dies down, clipping on a 40g jig and working it with short, sharp upward pulses from the responsive 30T carbon tip lets you keep fishing without changing rods.
