The Akios Vertron Super Sport Combo is a boat and uptide rod built around a single adjustable blank, aimed at everyone from the occasional charter boat angler to the small boat owner who fishes regularly. In its fully assembled form it works as an uptider, with a powerful butt and mid section progressively blending into a rolled glass tip that delivers the sensitivity and strength expected of a top end boat rod. When you need to cast, twist and extend the butt section to reach the full 9ft 6in length, which gives extra leverage to propel large leads and baits beyond the scare zone. Once the bait is in the water, twist and lock the butt section back into the retracted position for a more manageable, compact 8ft 9in length. A removable 2ft mid-section transforms the rod into a 6ft 9in conventional boat rod, which can be extended to 7ft 6in for casting using the twist-lock butt section. The blue-carbon weave blank carries 11 SeaGuide guides, whipped on with cobalt blue, violet and copper whippings.
