The Penn Tidal XR 420 is a two-piece beachcaster that combines the pulling power of a traditional UK-style rod with the recovery of a modern continental blank. At 14ft, it is a genuine all-rounder with a serious backbone, built to cope with the rough and tumble of British shore fishing while staying slim and responsive in the hand. Rated for 100-225g (4-8oz), it is designed to punch big baits into a headwind and bully specimen fish out of the surf. The blank mixes 30T and 40T carbon and is reinforced with Carbon X-Wrap technology, which virtually eliminates blank twist. The result is that when the rod is loaded, the power travels straight through the tip for accurate, long-distance casting. Fuji O Deep Pressed guides are fully saltwater-proof, with deep-pressed frames that shield the ceramic inserts from knocks against rocky ledges and pier railings.
