The Century Tip Tornado Super Match is a 13ft 6in beachcaster built around a blank shaped by the late sea angling legend Dave Docwra, whose international match experience informed its distinctive action. It sits above the Sport model with a slightly more powerful butt section, paired with a tip that is noticeably tippier and more responsive than the standard Match. The result is a rod aimed at match anglers and specialist shore anglers who want accuracy at range alongside clear bite indication. Century's Gearbox Design in the butt section, cured using Autoclave Technology, resists test curve decay and maximises energy transfer through the compression of the cast. The blank uses a 2x2 carbon twill on the upper butt, a 3k-1k carbon lower tip and an unground UD (Uni-Directional) carbon upper tip for bite detection. Titanium K Guides are tied in black with ThreadMaster epoxy and gold metallic trim bands, with marine-grade etched stainless steel trim bands on the upper and lower butt. A Japanese Shrink Rubber (JSR) handle keeps grip secure in wet conditions, and the DPS movable reel seat lets you position the reel to suit your casting style and arm length. Where it suits the venue: - Mixed to rough ground: the Gearbox Design butt section provides progressive power for steering hard-fighting fish out of kelp beds, rock gullies and snaggy terrain. - Smooth sand and shingle beaches: the refined, ultra-sensitive tip picks out shy bites from flatfish, whiting and bream at maximum casting range on clean ground. - Estuaries and tidal bays: heavy baits can be punched into fast tidal flows where holding bottom and registering delicate knocks both matter. Casting notes: the butt loads progressively, so a smooth pendulum or powerful off-the-ground cast works better than snatching at the stroke. An accelerating swing lets the Autoclave-cured carbon compress fully, sending a 150g lead and bait clip out with minimal physical effort. The rod is rated 4-7oz (125-200g) plus bait, with the sweet spot for distance and blank compression around 150g to 170g (approximately 5oz to 6oz). The Titanium K Guides use a forward-sloping frame design that resists wind knots and tangles, so the rod suits both low-diameter braided mainlines and traditional monofilament.
