Description
The Shimano 25 Grappler Type Slow J 200g is the entry point into high-performance slow-pitch jigging in the Grappler range. Where the heavier models are built for deep water, this 200g version is tuned to work jigs in the 100g to 200g bracket, making it a good match for Red Porgy, Snapper and smaller Amberjack in depths up to 80 metres. The 6'6" length used in the "25" series is a change from the traditional 6'8", and it makes the blank noticeably more nimble. You can bounce the jig with less physical effort and with greater accuracy on each jerk. - Spiral X and Hi-Power X Carbon: Spiral X construction prevents internal torsional twist, while Hi-Power X reinforces the outer layer of the blank. Together they keep the rod true under the rhythmic pressure of slow-pitching and give a crisp response that translates reel turns into correct lure action. - Moderate Parabolic Action: a smoothly bending body paired with a slightly hard tip. The tip supplies the flick that sends the jig horizontal, while the parabolic mid-section absorbs the violent lunges of bottom-dwelling predators. - 1+1 Piece (Grip Joint) Construction: the blank detaches at the handle, preserving the uninterrupted bending curve of a one-piece rod while staying travel-friendly. Transport length is 150.2cm, so it fits most standard rod tubes. - Fuji Alconite K-Type Guides and SiC Tip: high-grade Fuji guides let thin PE braid flow with minimal friction. The SiC (Silicon Carbide) tip guide dissipates the heat generated by fast-running fish to protect your line from breakage. - Ergonomic Fuji Reel Seat: the baitcasting (overhead) configuration uses a robust Fuji seat designed for a comfortable palmed grip, reducing hand fatigue over long drifts and helping you stay sensitive enough to feel a fall-bite. A typical use case is drifting over a coastal reef in around 50 metres of water with a 150g slow-pitch jig for Snapper. At that depth a 330g rod would be too stiff, but the Grappler Type Slow J 200g is in its element. On the slow-pitch retrieve the tip snaps the jig upward and then lets it flutter naturally on the descent, imitating a wounded baitfish. The sensitivity of the Spiral X blank lets you feel the thud of a Snapper taking the jig on the drop, and when you engage the reel the rod's hidden backbone provides the lifting power to pull the fish away from structure while the parabolic action helps prevent hooks pulling out during the fight. - Model: 25 Grappler Type Slow J B66-3 (Baitcasting) - Length: 6'6" (1.98m) - Construction: 1+1 Piece (Grip Joint) - Transport Length: 150.2cm - Max Jig Weight: 200g - Line Rating (PE): Max PE 2.0 - Rod Weight: Approx. 135g - Blank Tech: Spiral X and Hi-Power X - Reel Seat: Strong Fuji Overhead Seat - Handle Material: High-Density EVA
