The Free Spirit Hi-'S' Ive 13ft Abbreviated 50mm Black Edition is a carp rod built on the trusted Hi-'S' carbon blank, using Japanese low resin carbon with a resin content below 20% and a 40t modulus. The blank is finished with an attractive 1k weave running its full length and is precision ground to give a smooth cosmetic finish. The 'Perdurable' blank finish means there is no paint or lacquer on the blank, so the rod keeps its looks over years of service. The Black Edition fittings are what set this version apart. It uses a black version of the 1k clone reel seat, black Acetile butt cap and collars, matt black framed 'S'-Lite main guides and a black framed anti-frap tip guide. Whipping is in black with black tipping above the logo. These changes in fittings make the rod around 30g lighter than the standard Hi-'S'. All rods are assembled in the UK, with the guides mounted on the spine of the rod. This helps prevent twisting during the cast, supports more accurate casting, and prolongs the life of the blank by reducing the stress caused by the blank trying to re-align to the spine. The Black Editions are available with abbreviated handles, full cork, full EVA or full shrink, and can be custom built on any of the Hi-'S' range.
