The Okuma Makaira MK-20000LS-LH is a purpose-built spinning reel for anglers targeting the largest and most powerful fish. It is the result of Okuma's "4D Concept" of Design, Drive, Drag and Durability, and is engineered for the demands of serious saltwater fishing, including the big species found around the UK coastline. The reel is built around a forged, machine-cut aluminium body, sideplate and rotor, which provides the strength and rigidity needed to keep internal components aligned under extreme load. It carries an IPX7 waterproof rating, fully sealed against water ingress by 23 oil-retaining O-rings and gaskets, so spray, rain and saltwater do not compromise the internal mechanisms. Drag comes from a Carbonite high-output Dual Force Drag system, which applies pressure to both the top and bottom of the spool to make full use of the carbon fibre washers for heat dissipation and a smooth, consistent output.
