The Gardner Point Doctor 2 is a hook sharpener from Gardner Tackle, built around an abrasive rubber compound with an elevated abrasive content and a slightly stiffer formulation than the original. Like the rest of the Point Doctor range, it is a simple tool for keeping hook points sticky sharp, and a sharper point will prick, hook and penetrate faster and deeper, which means you hook and land more fish. The unique abrasive rubber compound (red) is forgiving enough that you can easily avoid applying too much pressure to the point, turning it over and ruining the hook. The firmer texture and higher abrasion make the Point Doctor 2 quicker to use and better at taking a little bit more material off the hook in a fast and precise manner. Each stroke removes a layer of the hook's plating or coated finish, enhancing and polishing the hook point. Point Doctors are not suitable for totally reworking hook points, but are perfect for improving points that are 'nearly' sticky sharp. - Tip: if one of the faces of your Point Doctor becomes grooved or clogged, carefully slice off a couple of millimetres from that face to leave a fresh abrasive surface that will work as good as new.
