Description

The Akios Nitron F-16 is a casting multiplier built for demanding UK shore fishing, positioned as the larger sibling of the Akios Shuttle. It combines a rigid, CNC-machined one-piece aluminium X-frame with a high-torque drivetrain, making it suited to punching leads into headwinds and hauling hard-fighting fish clear of heavy kelp or rough ground. The oversized brass main gear and bronze pinion provide the strength needed for species such as cod, rays, and smoothhounds, while the 6.2:1 retrieve ratio recovers 83cm of line per turn to help lift gear over snags quickly. For casting performance, the reel uses a free-floating spool on a thickened 5mm spindle to minimise friction, controlled by a micro-adjustable magnetic braking system that can be tuned to suit individual casting styles and reduce the risk of overruns. The open-cage (CT) design gives the caster a better grip on the spool during the cast and removes the friction of a levelwind mechanism. It is a right-hand wind reel as standard.
