Description

The Daiwa 20 Tournament Basia Surf 45 SCW QD Reel is a fixed-spool surf reel built around Daiwa’s Zaion Carbon body and rotor. This high-density carbon composite keeps the reel light at 485g while remaining rigid and corrosion-proof, which reduces fatigue over long sessions and keeps internal gears perfectly aligned under load. The reel is sealed with Magsealed magnetic oil to keep water and debris out of the internals, preserving smooth operation in saltwater. Casting performance is the focus here. The 45mm long-cast spool is tapered to let line peel off with minimal friction, and it comes with both shallow and deep spools for braid or mono. The Slow Cross Wrap system lays line in a near-parallel pattern with an ultra-slow oscillation, preventing line dig and ensuring a smooth release on the cast. A one-piece hollow Air Bail is strong yet light, and its seamless design lets line roll freely onto the line roller without snagging. The gearing is built around Aluminium Tough Digigear, a precision-machined system that delivers durable cranking power. The 4.1:1 ratio is chosen to maximise winding power for retrieving heavy leads and baits from distance. The Quick Drag system allows a fast shift from free spool to a locked fighting drag with a half-turn of the knob, and the reel offers a maximum drag force of 10kg.
