The Drennan AS Pole Rig is a ready-made pole rig developed in conjunction with five-time World Champion Alan Scotthorne, and is heavily based on his own rigs and rig diagrams. With well over a year in development, it is designed for commercial fisheries and incorporates the latest AS range of pole floats. The rigs are hand-tied in Drennan's own factories and use the highest grade balsa bodies, finished with a special tough acrylic paint that gives exceptional strength and durability. Highly visible hollow tips are reinforced into the body, and a new-style lightweight, blackened stainless steel eye is kind to the line, offering a vast improvement over conventional spring eyes. Sensible sized shot from No10 to No8 is used throughout, with shotting patterns based on Alan's recommendations, and three correctly positioned float rubbers on each stem. Drennan Supplex line is used throughout, with loops all tied with a reliable figure-of-eight knot. The rigs feature sensible 15cm (6in) hooklengths and Drennan barbless hooks. They come on innovative new toughened pole winders made from glass-filled nylon, whose unique design places the hook at the very end to avoid kinking the hooklength.
