The PENN Regiment IV Boat Braid is an 8ft boat rod built specifically for anglers who fish with braided line. Braid has no stretch to absorb shock, so these rods use a slightly more progressive action than a standard boat rod, letting you keep the sensitivity benefits of braid without pulling hooks or snapping line. The blank is made from 30-ton high-modulus carbon using PENN's SLS3 (Spiral Layer System) construction, which wraps the carbon in multiple layers and directions to resist crushing forces while keeping the blank thin and light. At 8ft (2.44m), the rod is longer than a typical boat stick, giving useful clearance from the hull and engine and extra reach when guiding a fish into the net. It is finished with saltwater-proof SeaGuide guides chosen to cope with the heat and friction of modern braids, a rubber bulb butt that sits comfortably against the hip or in a gimbal belt, high-density EVA handles and a DPS screw winch reel seat.
