The Daiwa Labrax is a versatile shore lure rod aimed at anglers who need casting distance, low weight and good bite detection in one package. At 9ft (2.74 m) it gives the range needed to fish over reefs, cast past surf or cover a lot of ground from an estuary bank, while the 7–24 g casting range covers the most popular bass lure types, from soft plastics and smaller to medium surface lures through to mid-weight plugs. The blank is built on Daiwa's SVF Nanoplus carbon, which keeps the rod feather-light at 125 g and gives the fast recovery that distance casting depends on. X45 Bias Carbon Technology is used to minimise blank twist (torque) through the cast and retrieve, improving accuracy and energy transfer. The 9ft length and X45 construction work together to produce long, accurate casts while retaining a fast, sensitive tip section for working lures. Feel is central to the hardware: Fuji Titanium/SiC guides and a Fuji TVS reel seat pass vibration from the lure's action and from any underwater contact straight to the hand. The shortened foregrip lets the angler's finger sit directly on the blank for bite detection. In the butt section, Braiding-X reinforcement adds tubular stability when fighting fish, and the V-Joint Alpha spigot joint keeps the curve seamless under heavy load.
