Description

The Tenryu Injection SP 82 MH 2ES is the two-equal-piece version of Tenryu's well-known Injection SP 82 MH lure rod. The original earned a reputation as a benchmark among shore anglers, but its offset (1+1) handle design meant it broke down into unequal sections that were awkward to transport. This "2 Equal Strands" model delivers the same performance, power and sensitivity while packing down into two equal halves, so it is far easier to carry and store. At 2.50m (8' 2") with a 12-45g casting rating, the rod is built for leverage. It gives you the reach to work a lure around snags when fishing from rocky points, boulders and scree, and the backbone to stop a double-figure bass from diving into the kelp. The blank's composition of 89% carbon and 11% fiberglass combines mechanical resistance with raw power, a blend that pure carbon rods cannot match, making it both durable and effective. While it performs as an all-rounder, the rod is at its best with paddle tail soft baits. Its Regular Fast action keeps the tip soft enough to feel the subtle thump of a lure's tail and to maintain contact during bottom-bouncing or straight retrieves. The softer tip is deceptive: the mid-section loads like a catapult on the cast, and the butt section holds a large reserve of power when a fish is hooked. A 12cm to 15cm paddletail on a 15g to 25g head is a good pairing, with the rod loading well in that range and giving clear feedback through the blank. The fiberglass content is deliberate. Many high-end rods are 100% carbon, which can make them brittle, so Tenryu adds 11% high-quality fiberglass to increase mechanical resistance. This lets the rod handle high-torque situations and sudden lunges from big fish without the blank snapping under pressure.
