Abu Garcia Max 5 X Low Profile Reel Left Hand

Description

The Abu Garcia Max 5 X Low Profile Reel Left Hand is a baitcasting reel built for a wide range of freshwater and light inshore saltwater fishing. As part of the Max series, it aims to combine reliable performance and a robust feature set at an accessible price, suiting both new and experienced anglers. The left hand retrieve designation means the reel is held in the right hand with the crank handle on the left, a setup favoured by anglers who prefer to cast with their right hand and retrieve with their dominant hand. Its low-profile design sits comfortably in the palm and is intended to reduce wrist strain and fatigue during long sessions of repeated casting and retrieving. The reel is engineered as a workhorse that balances strong components, smooth operation and an effective casting system. - Size and profile: compact, low-profile design that is ergonomic and lightweight - Retrieval: left hand retrieve model with the handle on the left side - Gear ratio: 6.4:1 - Bearing system: 5+1, comprising five stainless steel ball bearings and one roller bearing - Drag system: Power Disk drag, with maximum drag pressure of around 8-10 kg (17-22 lbs) - Body and frame: single-piece graphite construction - Spool: machined aluminium - Braking system: MagTrax magnetic braking, externally adjustable - Handle: ergonomic with soft-touch, oversized knobs The 6.4:1 gear ratio offers a balance of speed and power that suits a variety of lures, from jigs and soft plastics to crankbaits and spinnerbaits. The 5+1 bearing system is designed for smooth casting and retrieval under pressure, while the Power Disk drag delivers consistent pressure for fighting fish without stuttering or sudden jolts, with enough maximum drag for most bass, pike and other predatory fish. The single-piece graphite frame provides a rigid, durable foundation for the internal components while keeping overall weight down, and the machined aluminium spool is both lightweight for longer casts and strong enough to handle heavy lines and drag pressures. The externally adjustable MagTrax magnetic braking system lets the angler fine-tune spool tension to prevent backlashing, and its consistent braking makes it straightforward to use across skill levels. The handle features soft-touch, oversized knobs for a secure grip even when wet.
