DNA Baits Krill Meal is a finely ground krill powder that has long been a trusted ingredient in both the bait and koi food industries. It acts as a strong fish attractor, and its rough texture helps improve the leakage properties of a bait through osmosis, allowing chosen attractors to flood out easily. The powder carries a smooth, strong crustacean aroma that carp find highly appealing, and it is also a good source of protein, lipids, carotenoids, and anti-oxidants. Because krill is a light ingredient, DNA Baits recommends using it at a maximum of 7.5% of a mix, depending on what else is included. Problematic ingredients that can add to buoyancy include Sodium Casienate, Calcium Casienate, Flaked Wheatgerm, Shrimp Meal, and Milk Replacer Powders. This level is not set in stone, but caution is advised unless you want a batch of floaters, so it is best to make a small test batch first. To add weight and counter a high krill level, Maize Protein Meal or Maize Flour can be used, and increasing binders will tighten the finished bait, slowing breakdown and increasing density. A useful tip is to coat a hookbait in liquid and then dip it in Krill Powder for a slow-leakage wrap around the hookbait.
