Description

The Korda Heli-Safe is an innovative lead release system designed for anglers using helicopter or chod rigs, particularly in challenging conditions such as heavy weed or snags. This system addresses the long-standing issue of safely and consistently detaching the lead, which previously could lead to lost fish or tethering. At its core, the Heli-Safe operates using a unique pressure-release function. When a hooked fish pulls against the angler, or the hook link swivel exerts pressure on the top of the Heli-Safe, a latched lead clip opens, allowing the lead to drop freely. This instant lead ejection helps prevent hook pulls, maintains direct contact with the fish, and improves fish safety by eliminating the drag of a trailing lead. Anglers have the flexibility to choose when to drop the lead or retain it. The system is supplied with a small plastic collar that can be fitted to secure the lead in place, preventing premature ejection when not required. Additionally, the Heli-Safe includes different tensioning springs, allowing the user to adjust the sensitivity of the lead release mechanism. A heavier red spring is available for situations where more pressure is desired before the lead is ejected. Constructed from high-impact plastic and featuring a quality internal spring, the Korda Heli-Safe is designed for durability and consistent performance.
