Add water – a 1-pint maggot tub poured onto the groundbait. Mix thoroughly by hand or whisk, then allow it to rest for 30 minutes so the particles fully absorb the moisture. For best results, pass the rested groundbait through a riddle to remove lumps and create a fluffy, even consistency. Alternatively, a cordless drill and whisk can be used for a faster, ultra-consistent mix. Thatchers Dark suits winter silverfish sessions when the water is clear, providing a safe zone for roach and skimmers. It is also effective on clear natural rivers for dace and roach on the stick float or small cage feeder, on canals where its fine texture avoids over-feeding and the dark color mimics the silty bottom, and in deep reservoirs for bream when light levels are high.
